Upon learning of the plans of his close friends, the poet firmly decided to go to Petersburg to stand with them shoulder to shoulder during the uprising.

On the way, Pushkin twice crossed the road, and upon returning to Mikhailovskoye, he found out that the servant appointed with him to go to St. Petersburg suddenly fell ill with a white fever.

The superstitious poet immediately recognized the signs of fate in these events and refused to travel to the capital. Even in the lyceum period among Pushkin’s comrades were future Decembrists.
