Why should you know me: the founder of the underground jewelry brand Kate Snap Katya SNEP 4 min. I dreamed of being a punk and that the work was on high. At thirteen years old, together with friends, she was fond of a tattoo, even beat the tattoos with a needle for everyone. She studied at a comprehensive school, then at an artistic one. I was not able to finish 11 classes, so my parents sent me to college at the Stroganov University.

I chose between the faculties of design, icon painting or metalworking. It turned out that metalworking meant tensioning of fences, so I refused this option. Icon painting attracted me from childhood, although I have never been religious. But according to the canon, it is necessary to write images with paints using a natural emulsion made of chicken eggs. Because of my vegan beliefs, I could not follow this path.

The method of exceptions remained a design with which it did not grow together. My profile was an art design and installation, and it was useless to train this according to books. True, training in Stroganovka gave me something: plenty, a sense of composition, a sense of rhythm. Nevertheless, in two years of study at college, I was disappointed. I left Stroganovka and entered the college of decorative and applied art named after Karl Faberge.

In parallel, she went to jewelry courses for a private master. I liked to create a tangible physical object. Tired of the speculative concepts of art design, I felt that I had finally found something suitable for my character. The jewelry combines artistic craft, knowledge of chemistry, physics - and all this obeys your creative thought. This is a very exciting process, according to which you have a finished product.

Not to the detriment of my studies, I began my business - to sell rings on social networks to my small subscribers. The first few dozen of my works were only a search for myself, attempts to understand the specifics of interaction with metal. There was no intelligible aesthetics there. However, people bought basic products.

Biography of SNEP

The first circulation series was the ring with the inscription "Very Youth" in honor of my beloved Soviet group from the city of Volzhsky. When you are 16-17 years old - what you need! Then one of the customers asked me to insert my tooth into the ring. I agreed to fulfill this idea in the style of decadence, and the finished model became the second circulation series.

The photo with the product began to diverge on the Internet, people began to order the same rings with their teeth of wisdom. Earned money, I paid for renting a workbench in the same workshop where I studied. I also accepted orders for rings with inscriptions proposed from customers, and it was not always interesting work. However, I tried to accumulate on the necessary equipment, I did not have to choose.

As they say, the chicken pecked along the grain. I did everything in a row, except for a frank backwater. My popularity was growing, I myself have grown up, I began to gradually introduce my original style, because I was not attracted to my whole life to a jeweler-universal. I wanted people to feel my wib. Many colleagues criticize me for the fact that on the Kate Snap website there is no division into my personal page and a product page - everything is mixed.

But it seems to me that this is right, that I have not just a store. After all, my brand is also a collection of stories, each of which is connected with a particular thing. For example, I made a “panel” ring in the heat of a Chernobyl fascination when I repeatedly went to Pripyat. The youthful passion for tattoos did not pass without a trace. So, one of the popular models was the “full of love” ring, made based on the sculpture of Michelangelo “David” and the aesthetics of the Russian Criminal Tatto.

I like to combine cultural layers far from each other. At the age of 18, I opened an individual entrepreneur, connected the Internet accumulating the opportunity to pay with a card on the site or through the terminal, made a site with a catalog. Prior to this, I accepted a fee for goods from people, let's say, in manual mode. Then she took her an assistant on orders, began to arrange master classes.

There was more money, and I took up what I always loved - travel. To date, I managed to visit about 70 countries, but I like to ride in Russia. She chased twice to Norilsk, saw Vorkuta. It's a shame that the remarkable attractions that our northern regions are rich in have poorly developed infrastructure. To get a helicopter to some volcano in Kamchatka stands like a trip to Iceland.

To ensure such entertainment, you have to work hard. I hope that if in the future the workshop can function without me for a long time, I would buy a car and went on an epic journey through our cities and weights. Recently, charitable auctions began to conduct. Sometimes people paid for the order, but they did not take the thing even after three months. We called, but the clients did not answer, maybe we left or died.

I can't sell the product for the second time!From this situation there was a simple way out - the auction, the help of the money from which will go to good deeds. Various charitable foundations paid attention to me, deciding that I was a kind of philanthropist-millionaire, and now I have a whole queue for participation in such projects. I recently collaborated with an animal shelter for which she made addressers for dogs.

Aesthetically I was true to my style, decorating the product with barbed wire. I only once made a concession when a fund supporting the children's hospice addressed me. I completed products for the auction according to the sketches of children, without adding anything from myself. We can say that I organized only technical performance. I thought that the guys would be interested in what they came up with.

In general, I release the next model only with the advent of a new idea. Entrepreneurs' colleagues do not do this-they prepare a party for the season, consisting, for example, of 15 things. My brain does not work like that-I can’t sit strained in attempts to give rise to any plan. Although my products are quite simple. Usually these are miniature copies of well -known images spied in our life: the pendants "pigeon" or "power lines", rings "high -rise" or "divorce", a "panel" print and others.

Sometimes I release clothes with inscriptions. Sometimes I like any phrases or statements, I want to fix them, but there is no place for tattoos. My mother already says that I look like a wall newspaper. If you can’t integrate the text into a jewelry, then I print a T -shirt. I produce clothes with a limited edition, so this story is more about the output of creative energy, and not just about commerce.

Today a team works with me, there is client support, courier. It took nine years. There were no special force majeure, except for the explosion of a household lighter, when I seized my eyebrows with eyelashes. We work slowly, because I never suffered from ambitions to capture the Tsazek ​​market. Kate Snap has a certain popularity, but is not a product for a massworm in its purest form.
